Annual Parish Council Meeting 09-04-2026
Forest Hill Parish Council
Meeting Type: Annual Parish Meeting
The Annual Parish Meeting is often confused with a Parish Council meeting, but it is a distinct legal entity. In essence, it is a public forum for the entire community—a "town hall" style gathering rather than a formal administrative session.
The Purpose
Accountability: The Parish Council chair typically gives a report on the year’s activities and finances.
Community Voice: It provides a platform for residents to raise local issues, ask questions, and suggest future projects.
Local Groups: Often includes updates from local charities, sports clubs, or the police on their work within the village or town.
Key Characteristics
Who attends: Anyone on the electoral register for the parish is entitled to speak and vote.
Timing: By law, it must be held between 1st March and 1st June each year.
Atmosphere: Usually less "suits and agendas" and more "tea and biscuits." It’s the one night a year where the floor belongs to the residents, not the councillors.
